Introduction

The Allen-Bradley 1747-KE DH-485/RS-232C Interface Module is a module that bridges between DH-485 networks and devices with the DF1 protocol. This module is also called the DH-485 / RS-232C Interface Module. The DF1 port on this module can be configured for functions with an RS-232/423 device. It can also be configured for RS-422 and RS-485 devices. The Allen-Bradley 1747-KE has eight LED indicators. The indicators are located on the front of this module. These indicators are for module diagnostics and operator interfaces. This module can connect to most types of dial-up networks or direct connection modems. The Allen-Bradley 1747-KE has an operating shock of 30 G. The vibration of this module is 2.5 G at 57-2000 Hz. The relative humidity of this module is from 5-95% without condensation. This module has an operating temperature of 0-60° C (32-140° F). The storage temperature of this module is from –40-85° C (–40-185° F). This module is a device used for communication. The incorrect configuration may cause communication to stop. Avoid a system design that will cause potential security problems in the system in case of communication failure. The types of compatible modems are the Manual modem, DTE Controlled Answer, Auto Answer, and the Direct Connect. The 1747-KE module requires 5V DC and 24V DC power from the SLC backplane. The module power consumption should be considered when designing your SLC 500 system. Do not install or remove the 1747-KE module from the chassis until all power is shut off (after approximately 10 seconds).
